The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its third plenary meeting in Beijing on Jan 8.

The meeting studied and implemented the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee, the Central Economic Work Conference, and the Central Rural Work Conference. It also summarized the work of the committee in 2024 and planned work for 2025.

Hu Chunhua and Qin Boyong, vice-chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered speeches at the meeting.

The meeting highlighted that, in 2024, the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas carried out thorough work in Party building, achieved positive research results, played distinctive roles in consultation as well as deliberation and administration of State affairs, and made continuous progress in self-development. These efforts contributed to comprehensively promoting rural vitalization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas, and to accelerating the building of a country with a strong agricultural sector.

Looking ahead to 2025, the meeting stressed that the committee would leverage its foundational role in CPPCC work with a focus on agriculture and rural areas, enhance ideological guidance, gather strength, provide suggestions and continue to improve the professional level of its services.
