Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), called on CPPCC members to deepen research and offer constructive suggestions on the study, interpretation and promotion of the history of Chinese civilization.
Wang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks at an expert consultation meeting held by CPPCC National Committee in Beijing on Dec 6. The meeting focused on the study, interpretation and promotion of the history of Chinese civilization.
Wang called for in-depth research on the history of Chinese civilization, building an independent knowledge system for the history of Chinese civilization development, and promoting creative transformation and innovative development to enhance the reach and appeal of Chinese civilization.
Wang underscored the need to deepen research on major issues and clarify the historical development, intrinsic mechanisms, evolutionary pathways and structural framework of Chinese civilization from academic and theoretical perspectives, which will shed light on the development path of the community of the Chinese nation and the evolution of the Chinese nation featuring unity in diversity.
He urged better utilization of historical research and cultural resources to educate the public and to foster a stronger sense of community for the Chinese nation.
More efforts are needed to better tell the stories of Chinese civilization to the world, showcasing its remarkable achievements and contributions to human progress, he added.
During the meeting, CPPCC National Committee members and experts provided insights and suggestions on topics such as the study and interpretation of the origins of Chinese civilization, building an independent knowledge system for the history of Chinese civilization, reinforcing collection and protection of historical texts, and enhancing the profile of Chinese civilization.
The meeting was attended by Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, as well as vice-chairmen Bater and Wang Dongfeng.
Officials from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Education, and the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, along with representatives from Xinhua Institute, presented their views and engaged in discussions with CPPCC members and experts.
