The committees on economic affairs of the national and local committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a work symposium in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province, from Nov 25 to 26. 

CPPCC National Committee vice-chairmen Wang Yong and Gao Yunlong delivered speeches at the meeting.

The meeting acknowledged the work of the economic affairs committees of the CPPCC committees at all levels in leveraging their characteristics and expertise to offer suggestions, foster consensus and strengthen internal development. Their work has contributed to the implementation of economic policies and measures, as well as to gathering wisdom and support for reform and development, playing an active role in promoting high-quality economic and social development, according to the meeting.

The meeting highlighted the need for economic affairs committees of the CPPCC committees at all levels to provide constructive suggestions focusing on current economic trends and major issues, conduct research on the deep-seated contradictions that hinder the advance of reform, and organize studies on forward-looking topics related to economic development and sci-tech progress in order to put forward targeted recommendations.  

It is also important to respond to public concerns, address doubts on the part of the people, and do a good job in telling the stories of China’s economic development, said the meeting. 

The economic affairs committees should make work plans in line with their unique characteristics and follow up with concrete  implementation measures in order to enhance their duty performance, the meeting noted. 

The meeting also called for efforts to deepen cooperation between economic affairs committees of the CPPCC committees at all levels by establishing regular exchange mechanisms, such as joint learning, collaborative research and consultations, and outcome sharing, to foster synergy and contribute to the high-quality development of the CPPCC's work.
