The 2024 China Democratic League Forum on the Rule of Law, co-hosted by the Legal Affairs Committee of the China Democratic League (CDL) Central Committee and the CDL Sichuan provincial committee, was held in Nanchong, Southwest China's Sichuan province, recently.
Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the CDL Central Committee, spoke at the opening ceremony.
Wang highlighted the forum's theme, "legal guarantee for further deepening reform comprehensively", as both relevant and aligning with the country's key tasks. He emphasized the need to correctly understand the relationship between the rule of law and reform, adhere to law-based governance, and promote the rule of law in all aspects of State affairs to provide a solid legal foundation for further reforms.
Wang urged efforts to focus on legal reforms aimed at building a high-standard socialist market economy system, advancing social fairness and justice, improving public welfare, and contributing to the development of a socialist rule of law system with Chinese characteristics.
He also called on the CDL to leverage its unique strengths, pooling the expertise and insights of scholars and specialists to actively engage in legislative research and policy recommendations.
The forum received 185 academic papers from 30 CDL provincial organizations and the CDL Central Committee's Legal Affairs Committee, 50 of which were recognized as outstanding. More than 200 people, including representatives from CDL provincial organizations and paper authors, attended the event.
