The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held a symposium on proposal work in Beijing on Nov 19. Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a speech at the meeting.
Shi emphasized the importance of upholding the leadership of the CPC over proposal work and making targeted proposals on advancing Chinese modernization. He underscored the need to implement the requirements of advancing consultative democracy comprehensively while sticking to the focus of strengthening political guidance and building consensus.
He also called for efforts to improve proposal quality, enhance effectiveness of proposal handling and reinforce institutional development in order to maximize the role of proposals in reflecting public concerns, promoting scientific and democratic decision-making and fostering broad consensus.
Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, chaired the meeting. Attendees included representatives from the general offices of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, as well as the CPPCC National Committee's general office and special committees, along with leading officials of the central committees of other political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, relevant people's organizations, proposal-handling organizations, and provincial and sub-provincial-level CPPCC committees.
