The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a lecture on carbon sequestration in ecosystems at the China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing on Nov 19.
CPPCC vice-chairpersons Shen Yueyue, Wang Yong and Zhu Yongxin attended the event.
Piao Shilong, a Standing Committee member of the CPPCC National Committee and an academician with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered the lecture, where he explained the critical role of carbon sequestration in natural ecosystems in achieving China's dual carbon goals and engaged in interactive discussions with the audience.
More than 800 people, including members of the CPPCC national and local committees, representatives from the China Association for Science and Technology, science workers and researchers, and teachers and students, participated in the event.
The science popularization lecture is an important part of the "serving the people" initiative of the CPPCC National Committee. It leverages the professional expertise of members of the CPPCC National Committee to contribute to economic and social development and building a society that values and respects science.
