The Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSL) held a symposium in Hezhang county of Bijie city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Nov 8, to mark the 10th anniversary of the implementation of its "Dream Building" pairing assistance program.
Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairwoman of the TDSL Central Committee, spoke at the gathering.
Noting that the assistance program is an initiative launched by the TDSL Central Committee as part of its efforts to implement the central leadership's instructions on the construction of the Bijie pilot zone, Su said the league has utilized quality educational resources and carried out professional training to promote human resource development in assisted regions based on local needs in poverty alleviation and rural vitalization.
Su said in the decade since its inception, the program has evolved from a concept to tangible results, contributing significantly to poverty alleviation and development in those regions.
Su emphasized that, through continuous practice in the program, the TDSL Central Committee has established a clear working philosophy that aligns with the needs of the times, addresses the aspirations of the people, upholds fundamental principles while breaking new ground, and gives play to institutional advantages.
Su called for further enhancement in political standing, assistance mechanisms and effectiveness of assistance efforts focusing on key issues.
Representatives from TDSL local committees and beneficiaries of the "Dream Building" program shared their experiences and perspectives at the event.
