Xian Hui, vice-chairwoman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a team to East China's Shandong province from Oct 21 to 24 to survey the province's cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao in its opening -up efforts.
During their visit, the team visited enterprises and research institutions in the cities of Yantai, Weihai and Jinan, learning about Shandong's progress in high-level opening-up and collaboration with Hong Kong and Macao.
Xian noted that Shandong has intensified its collaboration and ties with Hong Kong and Macao in recent years, striving to drive deeper reform through high-level opening-up and promote high-quality development.
Efforts should be made to deeply integrate technological and industrial innovation, and fully implement the coordinated regional development strategy, Xian said. She called on Shandong to combine its advantages of broad market, comprehensive industrial system and strong educational and scientific capacity with Hong Kong and Macao's strengths in international outreach, professional services and sci-tech innovation, in order to do a good job of "bringing in" and "going global".
Xian also stressed giving play to the role of CPPCC members from Hong Kong and Macao to contribute to Chinese modernization by actively fulfilling their duties in consultations, surveys and inspections.
