Madagascar’s president meets with Mu Hong

President of Madagascar Andry Nirina Rajoelina met with Mu Hong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and head of the China-Africa Friendship Group of the CPPCC National Committee, in Antananarivo on Oct 21.

Mu said China places great importance on its relations with Madagascar and is ready to work with the country to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. He expressed China's willingness to strengthen traditional friendship, expand practical cooperation, and further advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Mu also introduced the Chinese people's political consultative system.

Rajoelina said that this visit by a high-level delegation of China to his country soon after the FOCAC summit demonstrated the political will of the Chinese side to implement the summit outcomes and deepen bilateral cooperation. Madagascar is ready to strengthen alignment with China in major cooperation areas such as agriculture, energy and infrastructure to bring greater benefits to people of both countries, he added.

During his visit to Madagascar from Oct 19 to 22, Mu also met with the president of the Senate of the country and surveyed China-Madagascar cooperative projects.
