China Vocational Education Association holds national congress in Beijing

The China Vocational Education Association (CVEA) held its 13th national congress in Beijing from Sept 24 to 25. Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a keynote speech at the gathering, while State Councilor Shen Yiqin also attended the opening.

Shi noted that, over the past five years, the CVEA has earnestly implemented the major decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee regarding vocational education and achieved significant progress in development.

He said the CVEA, as a mass organization under the leadership of the CPC, should uphold its united front attributes, leverage its unique characteristics and strengthen its development to make new and greater contributions to building a great country and rejuvenating the Chinese nation.

Zheng Jianbang, chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang; Gao Yunlong, chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce; and Huai Jinpeng, minister of education, delivered speeches on behalf of the central committees of non-CPC parties, mass organizations and the Ministry of Education, respectively. Hao Mingjin, executive chairman of the presidium of the 13th national congress, presented a work report on behalf of the 12th Council of the CVEA.

The meeting elected a new council membership and voted to adopt the resolutions on the work report of the 12th Council and amendments to the CVEA constitution.
