The Sichuan provincial committee of the Jiusan Society held a conference to celebrate its 40th anniversary in Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan province, on Sept 10. Shao Hong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, delivered a keynote speech at the conference.

On behalf of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, Shao extended warm congratulations to the Sichuan provincial committee on its 40th anniversary.

He noted that, over the past 40 years, under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society and the Sichuan provincial committee of the Communist Party of China, the Sichuan provincial committee of the Jiusan Society has steadfastly followed the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and led its organizations and members across the province in playing a key role as practitioners, promoters and defenders of China's political party system.

The Sichuan provincial committee of the Jiusan Society has carried out education campaigns and implemented the talent strategy to serve the overall work of reform and development, achieving remarkable results in advising on State affairs and pioneering the provision of social services, Shao said, adding that the committee also acted responsibly and effectively in times of disasters, contributing wisdom and strength to Sichuan's development.

Shao called for members of the Jiusan Society across the province to continue advancing organizational development with a reforming spirit, and leverage their expertise in science and technology to serve the overall work of reform and development. He also urged them to offer high-quality advice, perform oversight roles and put more efforts in scientific and technological innovation to make greater contributions on the new journey of Chinese modernization.
