A symposium on studying and implementing the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee for committees on population, resources, and environment of the national committee and local committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, from Sept 13 to 14.
Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a keynote speech at the symposium.
Shen stressed that CPPCC committees on population, resources, and environment at all levels should further study and implement the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. Efforts should be made to deepen reform and advance Chinese modernization in key areas such as building a Beautiful China, promoting the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, and driving high-quality population development, she said. She called for research, in-depth consultations, democratic oversight, and building consensus and pooling strength for reform and development to support the implementation of the CPC Central Committee's decisions and plans.
Shen also stressed the need to implement the reform tasks put forward by the CPC plenum concerning improving the mechanisms for consultative democracy and further enhancing the institutions, regulations and procedures of related work.
Shen urged high-quality support for CPPCC members in performing their duties, strengthening collaboration within the population, resources, and environment committees at all levels, and improving the effectiveness of their efforts. She also emphasized the importance of team building, advocating for pragmatism and integrity while fighting against pointless formalities and bureaucratism.
