Bater, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a team of CPPCC National Committee members to Southwest China's Guizhou province from Sept 1 to 5 to inspect education on forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation at local schools and educational practice bases.
The team visited primary and secondary schools, universities and educational practice bases in the cities of Guiyang and Zunyi. They noted that Guizhou's primary and secondary schools have integrated the education on the sense of community for the Chinese nation into regular school activities and rooted the love for the Chinese nation in the hearts of children. Students and teachers from various ethnic groups created artwork that included paintings and sculptures based on local Red culture and traditional Chinese cultural resources, vividly demonstrating the unity of the 56 ethnic groups as one big Chinese family, they noted.
The team emphasized the need to prioritize education on forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation in schools by enhancing the development and utilization of relevant teaching materials, improving teaching abilities, and refining teaching plans and evaluation systems.
They also urged the popularization of standard Chinese and the use of State-compiled teaching materials. The coordination mechanism between schools, families and wider society needs to be fully tapped for the mutual learning and common growth of students from different ethnic groups, they added.
