The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a science lecture on life and health at the Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing on Aug 29, with vice-chairmen of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Yong, Bater, Zhu Yongxin and Yang Zhen attending. 

Wang Chen, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered the lecture titled "The Ultimate Interest: Human Life and Health". He interpreted the concepts of medicine, hygiene and health and relationships between them, while underscoring the significance of the healthcare industry to national security, economic development, national rejuvenation and human well-being. Over 700 people, including members of CPPCC National Committee and local committees, teachers, students and community representatives, participated in the event. 

The science lecture program is a major part of the "serving the people" initiative launched by CPPCC National Committee members. It aims to leverage the professional expertise of CPPCC National Committee members to contribute to economic development, social progress and fostering an enabling atmosphere for learning science in our society.
