A team from the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) visited Northwest China's Qinghai province from Aug 21 to 25 to survey the recycling system for renewable resources in the new energy industry.
The team was headed by Che Jun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment.
The team visited various locations across Qinghai, including industrial parks, photovoltaic manufacturing companies, solar thermal power plants and new energy industrialization equipment bases in Xining city, Hainan Tibetan autonomous prefecture and Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan autonomous prefecture. They learned about the management of decommissioned photovoltaic modules, the recycling of renewable resources, and the development and utilization of critical energy and mineral resources. They also held a symposium with officials from relevant local government departments to gather opinions and suggestions.
The team noted that speeding up the establishment of a recycling system for renewable resources in the new energy industry and achieving green development throughout the entire lifecycle of the industry is a key element of the country’s energy security and high-quality development.
The team acknowledged the progress made by Qinghai province in renewable resource recycling within the new energy sector. They said Qinghai, with the aim of building itself into a national hub for the clean energy industry, has embarked on a path of high-quality development catering to the unique characteristics of the province. It has made substantial efforts and achieved notable results in practicing green management in the whole lifecycle of photovoltaic modules and in the research and application of recycling technologies, the team noted.
The team called for increasing efforts and a goal-oriented and problem-solving approach to find solutions that address the obstacles impeding the development of a renewable resources recycling system in the new energy industry. They also highlighted the importance of leveraging the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body to contribute wisdom to accelerating the high-quality development of the new energy industry and advancing the building of a Beautiful China.
