To mark China's second National Ecology Day, which falls on Aug 15, the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee organized a series of activities, which included an expert lecture on deepening institutional reform for ecological civilization and a symposium on the same topic.
More than 100 members from the groups of environment and resources, China Democratic League, and All-China Women's Federation under the CPPCC National Committee took part in the activities in person or online, as part of efforts to study and implement the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
Addressing the event, Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, said China's achievements in developing an ecological civilization have attracted worldwide attention, marking a historic achievement and transformation in the cause of the Party and the country in the new era since the 18th CPC National Congress.
Insisting that comprehensively deepening reform is an important element in the development of an ecological civilization, Shen called on CPPCC members to study and implement the guiding principles of both the third plenary session and the national conference on eco-environmental protection, leverage their unique advantages, strengthen special consultation and democratic supervision, and provide practical advice and suggestions based on in-depth investigations and studies on progress towards an ecological civilization. They were urged to make suggestions and build consensus on accelerating the green transformation of the country's economic and social development, contributing their expertise to the building of a Beautiful China and Chinese modernization that features harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
