Entrusted by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, briefed non-CPC personages on the guiding principles of the just-concluded third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee on July 22.
Shi said that the third plenary session was held at a critical time when China is endeavoring to build a strong country on all fronts and realize national rejuvenation through the Chinese path to modernization. Aiming to achieve the second centenary goal of building a great modern socialist country in all respects, the plenum encouraged all-out mobilization to further deepen reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization, sending a strong signal of unwavering commitment to further promoting the country's reform and opening-up.
He noted that the resolution adopted at the plenary session is a guiding document for comprehensively deepening reform in the new era, fully reflecting the historical mission of the CPC Central Committee in improving and developing the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and promoting modernization of China's systems and capacity for national governance.
Shi stated that studying and implementing the guiding principles of the plenum is a major political task for united front work, both for now and in the future. He urged members of the united front to gain a firm understanding of the themes, major principles, measures and fundamental guarantees of further comprehensively deepening reform, giving full play to the characteristics and advantages of the united front in advancing the Chinese modernization.
Shi expressed the hope that non-CPC political parties, federations of industry and commerce, and personages without party affiliation would concentrate their deliberation of State affairs and suggestions on facilitating the implementation of the major reform measures adopted at the plenum, proposing more targeted and operational suggestions on the most urgent issues of economic reform, as well as bottleneck problems in other fields. He called for fully leveraging the advantages of China's new type of political system, cultivating a cordial and clean relationship between the government and businesses across the board, and supporting and guiding private enterprises to improve their governance structure and management system.
He also urged the vast members of the united front to actively support and participate in the country's reforms.
