Wang Yong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team of non-Communist Party of China (CPC) members from the Committee on Economic Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee to Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region from July 7 to 12 to inspect work on the improvement of pairing assistance.
The inspection team visited land ports, enterprises, schools, farms, communities and assistance projects in Urumqi, Wujiaqu, Ili Kazakh autonomous prefecture and Kashgar, where they talked with local officials and residents.
Noting Xinjiang's progress in economic development, social stability and ethnic unity, the team praised the results brought about by the pairing assistance efforts in the construction of a beautiful Xinjiang.
The team stressed that pairing assistance is a key strategy of the CPC Central Committee and a crucial measure for achieving social stability and long-term security in Xinjiang.
They called for further efforts in all-round, targeted and long-term assistance and highlighted industrial pairing assistance programs that promote employment and develop entire industrial chain tailored to local conditions. These moves will, they said, improve the well-being of people of all ethnic groups in the region, consolidate the sense of a community for the Chinese nation and contribute to the construction of a beautiful Xinjiang.
