The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee dispatched an inspection team to North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region from July 2 to 6, with the aim of boosting the participation of nongovernmental entities in provision of public cultural services.

Headed by Shao Hong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, the team visited local museums, cultural centers, special-feature cultural blocks, memorial halls and community centers to observe the latest developments in public culture facility construction and operation, as well as the modes and outcomes of and relevant support for the participation of nongovernmental entities in the public cultural service sector in Inner Mongolia.

The inspection team noted that significant progress has been made in the development of a public cultural service system in recent years in China, and that promoting the participation of nongovernmental parties in such services has played an important role in improving their level and enabling the people to enjoy a more fulfilling, enriched and high-quality cultural and spiritual life.

The team called for refined policy guidance, establishing and improving platforms and channels for their participation, and developing an open, diverse and dynamic supply system for public cultural services. They also said that public cultural resources should be allocated optimally, and that service vitality and efficiency should be stimulated. The CPPCC will leverage its advantages to contribute wisdom and strength in mobilizing nongovernmental actors to provide public cultural services, according to the inspection team.

The inspection was part of preparations for a standing committee meeting of the CPPCC National Committee, to be held later this year, to boost cultural confidence and facilitate cultural development in China.
