Members of the Committee on Proposals of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a consultation meeting in Foshan city, South China's Guangdong province, on June 24, which aimed to encourage innovation and accelerate the cultivation and development of new quality productive forces, one of the key proposals submitted to the annual session of the CPPCC National Committee this year. 

The CPPCC delegation also conducted in-depth surveys in a number of companies in Foshan to gain practical insights into their efforts in fields such as digital transformation and intelligent development, core technology breakthroughs, commercialization and application of innovation outcomes, and talent cultivation for scientific research.

At the consultation meeting, Lin Keqing, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee, provided an introduction to the background information of the proposal and specific suggestions therein. Officials from Guangdong briefed the meeting on progress in accelerating the cultivation and development of new quality productive forces. Officials from the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology presented their progress in handling the proposal. They also exchanged views on establishing new institutional mechanisms, building new infrastructure, exploring new development modes, establishing new industrial systems, activating new production factors and fostering new quality consumption.

The CPPCC members called for more efforts to achieve greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology, pushing forward industrial transformation and upgrading, and developing new quality productive forces that suit local conditions. They also stressed the importance of building a talent pool that meets the needs of new quality productive forces, and relying closely on technological innovation to enhance the growth of these new forces.

The delegation also urged those in attendance to fully tap into the guiding role of key CPPCC proposals, gather the wisdom of all parties, and foster a process in line with the country's scientific and democratic decision-making that will accelerate the cultivation and development of new quality productive forces.
