On June 26, the Eighth China-Eurasia Expo kicked off in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks.
Gao pointed out that the expo has been held successfully for seven years and become an important channel for economic and trade cooperation between the regions. This year's event aims to help expand cooperation areas, enhance cooperation levels and promote common prosperity among all countries in the region, he said.
He stressed that China is now in full swing in implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, promoting the high-quality advancement of Chinese modernization and creating new opportunities for the world with new outcomes in the process. Noting the strong economic complementarities and close ties in industrial and supply chains between China and other Eurasian countries, he raised his hope to strengthen strategic alignment with other Eurasian countries, deepen regional cooperation, and jointly open up new prospects for Eurasian cooperation.
Prior to the opening ceremony, Gao inspected the exhibition halls. Later on the day, he attended and addressed a forum for cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.
