A consultation meeting on the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Qinling Mountains was held in Longnan city, Northwest China's Gansu province, on June 22. The meeting was attended by representatives from the provincial committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Henan, Hubei, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu and Qinghai, and the municipal committee in Chongqing. Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended and addressed the meeting, which focused on the tailings hazard treatment and green mine development in the Qinling Mountains.

Wang noted that in recent years, the six provinces and Chongqing municipality surrounding the Qinling Mountains have explored cross-regional coordination mechanisms to jointly promote the healthy and sustainable development of the eco-environment in the Qinling Mountains. Emphasizing the critical importance of tailings safety to the ecological security of the Qinling Mountains, Wang called for accelerated efforts in the ecological restoration of the mines and the advancement of green mine development.

He also called for further efforts to tap into the ecological, cultural, tourism, and agricultural resources of the Qinling Mountains, exploring sustainable paths for development.

Wang stressed that in light of new situations and tasks, CPPCC committees in the six provinces and Chongqing should understand the significant role of ecological progress in the overall development of the country, strengthen regional consultations, build broad consensus, and jointly contribute to building a solid ecological security barrier in the Qinling Mountains and accelerating the building of a Beautiful China.
