The efforts made by members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in the environment and resources sector in promoting environmental protection have been praised as conscientious and active by Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee. 

Shen made the remarks at a consultation seminar held by the CPPCC National Committee in Beijing on June 25, which focused on accelerating the implementation of measures for building a Beautiful China.  

The proposal on accelerating the establishment of an implementation system and promotion mechanism for building a Beautiful China is the first collective proposal submitted by members of the environment and resources sector to the CPPCC National Committee since its establishment. It pooled the wisdom of 85 members in the group and was listed as one of the CPPCC National Committee's key proposals of 2024. 

Addressing the seminar, Shen acknowledged the efforts made by members of the 14th CPPCC National Committee from the environment and resources sector in drafting proposals, actively fulfilling their duties, and contributing to environmental protection and the building of a Beautiful China. 

Shen called for more targeted and feasible policy suggestions from the CPPCC members, with a focus on intensified research and deliberations. More efforts are needed to enhance the quality and efficiency of proposal handling through consultation and supervision, Shen added. 

Also at the seminar, Yin Hong, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee who is from the environment and resources sector, gave an overview of the background information about the proposal and specific suggestions therein. 

Officials from Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance and the National Financial Regulatory Administration gave a rundown of how they will fit into the proposal. 

Seminar attendees also engaged in in-depth consultations on the handling of five related proposals, including the improvement of the environmental protection compensation mechanism and the construction of pilot areas for the building of a Beautiful China.
