The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) dispatched a team to Central China's Henan province from June 11 to 15 to inspect the implementation of the strategy for the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, and survey the progress in the handling of relevant key proposals. 

Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, participated in some of the inspection and survey activities and delivered a speech at a symposium held in Zhengzhou. 

The team inspected the Yellow River ecological corridor and a  comprehensive river management project in the cities of Kaifeng, Zhengzhou and Luoyang, conducting on-site inspections of projects under construction and beach area management. They visited local management units, cultural and museum facilities, and communities and villages, exchanged views with relevant officials, and listened to the opinions and suggestions of experts, scholars, and the general public, gaining a detailed understanding of local efforts and achievements, as well as challenges and tasks in advancing ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. 

The team said that promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin is conducive to maintaining the stability of the structure and function of the Yellow River ecosystem, and addressing the "water issues" that concern the people in the basin, and will continuously enhance people's sense of gain, happiness, and security. 

The team called for attention to be paid to the importance and urgency of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. Further efforts should be made to deepen research on common issues and difficulties, prioritize ecological protection and restoration, strengthen the conservation and efficient use of water resources, and promote high-quality development throughout the basin. They stressed that the CPPCC, as a specialized consultative body, should offer suggestions, build consensus, and make concerted efforts to contribute to the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.
