The Central Committee of the Jiusan Society held its 40th science symposium, themed on brain-computer interface technological innovation to cultivate new quality productive forces, in Tianjin on May 18.
Wu Weihua, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Shao Hong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, attended the meeting.
Wu noted that in recent years, Tianjin, by seizing the strategic opportunities of intensive frontier technology breakthroughs and rapid growth of emerging industries, has made significant strides in exploring brain-computer interface innovations and its industrial development. Brain-computer interface has become a future industry field in which major countries cultivate new economic growth momentum and create new competitive advantages, Wu pointed out, stating that there are still many issues to be explored to advance the development and application of brain-computer interface technology in China. Efforts should be made to fully recognize and pay attention to the weak links and challenges in that regard, Wu added.
Wu expressed hope that participants would thoroughly analyze the global development trends of brain-computer interfaces and assess China's development landscape in this field, identify existing problems and putting forward suggestions.
On May 17, Shao led a team to survey a laboratory and a technology innovation park related to brain-computer interfaces in Tianjin.
