Qin Boyong, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairwoman of the China National Democratic Construction Association (CNDCA) Central Committee, led a team to Southwest China's Sichuan province from May 13 to 17, to survey coordination work on rural infrastructure and public services.
The team visited villages, schools, water supply stations, health centers, nursing homes, and agricultural parks in the cities of Yibin and Luzhou, and held multiple symposiums with grassroots cadres and representatives of villagers to learn about local practices and experience in improving rural infrastructure and public services.
The team stressed the need to enhance political standing, focus on the goals and tasks of rural vitalization, adhere to the integrated development of urban and rural areas, and prioritize rural areas in the improvement of infrastructure and public services in order to lay a solid foundation for comprehensively advancing rural vitalization.
Highlighting the importance of coordinating rural infrastructure and public services, the team urged local officials to learn from Zhejiang province's Green Rural Revival Program and adhere to a people-centered development approach to ensure satisfaction among rural residents. They called for integrated urban-rural development and efficient planning and coordination to solve the weak links in infrastructure and public service. Further efforts should be made in scientific and practical village planning, increasing inter-departmental collaboration, and accelerated infrastructure improvements.
CPPCC members should strengthen their research efforts at the grassroots level and provide high-quality suggestions to support the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, the team added.
