Xian Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team to South China's Guangdong province from May 15 to 17 to survey the joint participation of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Belt and Road cooperation. The trip also served as a supervision survey on the key proposal on enhancing the innovation and competitiveness of industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The team visited the cities of Zhuhai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou to gain detailed insights into the collaborative efforts of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in technological innovation, industrial development, trade and investment expansion, and business environment optimization in their collaboration in Belt and Road cooperation. They held meetings to gain more information and exchange views with relevant parties, and visited the workplaces of CPPCC National Committee members in Guangdong for further study and research.

Noting that the development of the GBA is a major national strategy, the team stressed that efforts should be made to build consensus, enhance motivation, and gather strength in the area for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. In-depth surveys, research and consultations are needed to allow the GBA to play a better role in connecting domestic and international markets, and promoting economic and trade cooperation to a higher level.

The team also stressed the importance of building collaborative innovation platforms by enterprises, universities, and research institutes in the three regions to jointly conduct basic research, technological breakthroughs, and the transformation of scientific outcomes, aiming for new advancements in technological innovation. Additionally, they highlighted strengthening unity and fostering connections with overseas Chinese communities to better promote cultural exchanges and enhance mutual understanding among people.
