Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice- chairman of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) Central Committee, led a team from the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee to East China's Zhejiang province to inspect the region's work on in-depth integration of physical and academic education from May 10 to 13. 

The inspection team visited primary and secondary schools, sports schools, and social sports organizations in the cities of Shaoxing, Ningbo, and Taizhou. They learned about local efforts in integrating physical education with academic education in such areas as strengthening school sports work, enhancing the development of schools with  with a strong tradition in sports, deepening reform of sports schools, regulating social sports organizations, and cultivating physical education teachers and coaches. The team also held extensive exchanges and discussions with representatives of teachers and students, as well as sports professionals.

The inspection team emphasized that promoting the integration of sports and education is crucial not only for the physical health of young people and the cultivation of future sports talents, but also for enhancing the overall physical and mental well-being of the nation. They called for greater efforts to help young people enjoy sports and strengthen their bodies, mind and willpower through physical exercise. 

The team also highlighted the role of the CPPCC as a specialized consultative body in addressing key challenges in promoting the in-depth integration of sports and education. Through offering constructive suggestions and building broad consensus, the CPPCC can contribute to the implementation of the decisions and plans made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China regarding the integration of sports and education.
