The Kaiming Culture Forum 2024, hosted by the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), commenced in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on May 10. Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
Noting that the forum is a major platform for the CAPD to uphold its spirit of inheriting the past to forge on with clear aspirations, and contribute wisdom to building China's cultural strength, Zhu said that this forum, themed on inheriting Chinese culture to build modern civilization, bears special significance in learning the central leadership's thoughts and plans on cultural development, and exchanging views on theoretical and practical issues related to building China's cultural strength.
Zhu stressed that in-depth study of the origins and characteristics of Chinese civilization and culture, with a view to building a philosophy system featuring Chinese culture, is a major task of the times. The CAPD is ready to work together with peers in the cultural sector to shoulder new cultural missions, work diligently and proactively, and make greater contributions to making China a leading country in culture and building a modern Chinese civilization.
The one-and-a-half day forum included two sub-forums themed on decoding cultural genes and civilization inheritance and creation, and humanity-economy co-prosperity and urban development renewal, respectively.
More than 260 experts and scholars from cultural institutions, universities and the CAPD attended the opening ceremony and subsequent activities.
