At the invitation of the HK CPPCC (Provincial) Members Association Limited, Xian Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a delegation to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) from May 6 to 8 to attend the inauguration ceremony of the seventh council of the association, where she delivered a speech.
Xian noted that Hong Kong's economy is embracing overall recovery and has entered a new development stage towards prosperity, which is the result of the collective efforts of the HKSAR government and the people, as well as Hong Kong CPPCC members.
Xian called on the association to comprehensively, accurately, and firmly implement the "one country, two systems" principle and the principle of "patriots administering Hong Kong", and support the chief executive and the SAR government in governing Hong Kong in accordance with the law. Social organizations including the association should make efforts to firmly support the implementation of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, serve as a bridge between the government and the people, and guide the entire society to establish a holistic view of national security, according to Xian. She said that social organizations need to unite and mobilize patriotic individuals, and consolidate and enhance Hong Kong's status as an international hub for finance, shipping, and trade.
During her stay in Hong Kong, Xian visited the Friends of Hong Kong Association Ltd. and the Federation of Hong Kong Guangdong Community Organisations, conducted inspection at entities that house members of the CPPCC National Committee, and held discussions and exchanges with the members.
