Bater, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a team of members from the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee to survey education and talent cultivation at the Buddhist Academy of China (Fayuan Temple campus) in Beijing on April 15. The team also visited members of the CPPCC National Committee working at the academy and the Buddhist Association of China.

The team went to the Fayuan Temple campus to learn about the teaching, operation and management of the school, exchanging views with management of the school.

The team affirmed the progress in the country's work related to religious affairs and in the cultivation of religious talents. As the main venue of talent cultivation, religious schools should adhere to the correct direction of education, be in line with the requirements of the times and actively explore and innovate on the basis of long-term practice in order to enhance the teaching capacity and the ability of talent cultivation, and play their due roles in the Sinicization of religion, they said.

The Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs will continue to support the cultivation of religious talents by means of research, consultation and conveying opinions and suggestions of the religious circles, promoting the resolution of practical problems and facilitating the healthy inheritance of religions in China, in a bid to guide them to adapt to the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
