Jin Dong, CPPCC National Committee member, national first-class actor
The people of Taiwan place great importance on the preservation and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture, particularly in the research and protection of traditional Chinese characters and ancient texts. The cultures on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are interconnected. I have made more exchanges with counterparts in Taiwan and hope to make more efforts in the future to create works related to cross-Strait themes, not only in TV series or movies, but also in stage plays.
Tang Xudong, CPPCC National Committee member, chief researcher of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences
As practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, we must uphold the golden signboard of TCM and effectively inherit, develop and apply this precious legacy left to us by our ancestors. From treating minor ailments like the common cold to chronic and difficult diseases, TCM can play an important role. I suggested various departments jointly strengthen the systematic quality management of Chinese herbal medicines and medicinal materials in terms of cultivation, production and distribution, ensuring that the public can consume reliable and high-quality TCM.
Deng Lin, CPPCC National Committee member, vice-director of the civil affairs bureau in Chongqing
I met with a couple in their 80s in a residential community in Chongqing who said they felt exhausted doing the housework, buying groceries and cooking due to their old age. The public dining services that have been put in place for the elderly in their community have eliminated their worries.
Mei Yu, CPPCC National Committee member, director of the regional water resources department of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region
Access to water is extremely challenging for the 116 herders living in one particular village in the Tashikurgan Tajik autonomous county of Kashgar prefecture (in Xinjiang). They have to travel several kilometers to reach the river in summer and drink water melted from ice in winter. When I visited the village, they pointed to the water tap and told me it was their most precious possession. The regional government has ramped up its efforts to solve the "last mile" of drinking water in rural and pastoral areas that encounter similar challenges.
