The Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its 16th consultation meeting on Jan 25, aiming to analyze the development of the country's population, resources and environment.

CPPCC members from the participating group of environment and resources analyzed  development trends in the sector and exchanged views with heads of relevant departments on advancing green, low-carbon, and high-quality growth, with their discussions centering on comprehensively advancing the building of a beautiful China.

Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, highlighted in her speech that building a beautiful China is a major goal in building a modern socialist country in all respects and an important part of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, while green and low-carbon development is the only way to build a beautiful China and a critical link to achieving high-quality development. Shen called on CPPCC members to fully grasp the requirements of relevant tasks and to further improve the pertinence and effectiveness of their political opinions and proposals based on the nature and positioning of the CPPCC.

Shen stressed the importance of fully leveraging the advantages of the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment, conducting in-depth investigations and research, actively proposing suggestions and building greater consensus to promote green, low-carbon and high-quality development in a coordinated manner, thus contributing more CPPCC strengths to advancing the building of a beautiful China.
