Xi's special envoy Bater attends Liberia's presidential inauguration

President Xi Jinping's special envoy Bater attended the inauguration of Liberian President Joseph Nyumah Boakai in Monrovia, the capital of the Republic of Liberia, on Jan 22, at the invitation of the Liberian government. Boakai met with Bater in Monrovia one day earlier.

Bater, also vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, conveyed Xi's cordial greetings and good wishes to Boakai, saying that China attaches great importance to the development of China-Liberia relations.

China is willing to jointly enhance mutual understanding between the two countries, deepen cooperation in various fields, and promote the development of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and Liberia to achieve new results, Bater said.

For his part, Boakai sincerely thanked Xi for sending a special envoy to attend his inauguration ceremony and asked Bater to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to his Chinese counterpart.

Boakai emphasized that Liberia highly values the friendship between the two countries, firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and is ready to deepen cooperation with China in key areas such as infrastructure and human resources, so as to accelerate the development of bilateral relations.
