The Standing Council of the eighth Council of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation held its seventh session in Beijing on Jan 11. Li Bin, chairwoman of the foundation, presided over the meeting.

In her speech at the meeting, Li said that the foundation must combine its practical work with the conscientious study and implementation of the plans of the Central Economic Work Conference, fulfill its duties in maintaining economic development and social stability, and better narrate the stories of China's economic development to serve the country's overall development.

She called on the foundation to further leverage its unique advantages in the new year, better serve the overall situation of the national diplomacy, do a good job at people-to-people diplomacy activities, and deepen cross-Strait, Hong Kong and Macao exchanges. She also encouraged efforts to empower young people's growth and their innovative development, gather social resources to support public welfare and charity projects, and improve the foundation's working mechanism to beef up the high-quality implementation of its various work tasks.
