A forum on the high-quality development of the follow-up projects of the central route of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project was held in Beijing on Dec 12.

Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League (CDL), attended the event.

In his address, Wang said that the South-to-North Water Diversion Project is a major strategic infrastructure constructed based on the decision made by the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noting that countless builders and professionals, thousands of people  as well as local governments along the route have made endeavors to guarantee the sustainable water flow from South China.

He underlined the need to broaden the path of ecological value transformation, empower green and low-carbon development through innovation and explore the multi-level value of water resources, so as to contribute to the high-quality development of the central route of the water diversion project.

The forum focused on major theoretical and practical issues centered on source protection. Two academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering made keynote speeches at the forum.
