The 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its first open day for the public on Dec 16.

More than 100 students from 20 universities in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province, including Peking University and Tsinghua University, visited the working sites of the CPPCC National Committee.

Launched in 2019, the CPPCC National Committee open day for the public aims to strengthen the CPPCC’s communication with the public, and help the public better understand the country's multi-party cooperation and political consultation system led by the Communist Party of China (CPC).

At the launch ceremony of this open day, Zhang Xiaoming, deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, introduced to the visiting students the nature and positioning of the CPPCC, and its practice of whole-process people's democracy. He also briefed them on the highlights of the performance of duties of the 14th CPPCC National Committee.

During the event, the students watched a video introducing the work of the CPPCC National Committee, visited venues such as the conference hall of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and the CPPCC auditorium, which served as the venue of the eighth CPC National Congress. They also visited exhibitions including the "Glorious History of the CPPCC" and interacted with young cadres working at the CPPCC office.
