The 15th China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) Central Committee held its second plenary session in Beijing on Dec 7. Cai Dafeng, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, delivered a work report on behalf of the Standing Committee of the 15th CAPD Central Committee. Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, presided over the opening session. 

Cai said that over the past year, the new central committee of the CAPD has made new progress in institutional construction, and its political consultation activities have achieved remarkable results and earned favorable social comments for providing high-quality consultation and suggestions, conducting in-depth democratic supervision, and reflecting public opinion. 

Cai noted that next year, the CAPD will implement the five-year plan for promoting self-construction and enhance the quality of achievements of its deliberation of State affairs and suggestions by advancing its duty performance capabilities. 

He urged for new endeavors to create a new situation that fully serves the nation's overall situation, welcoming the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the CAPD, and further contributing to China's multi-party cooperation in the new era and the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country in all respects.
