He Wei, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP), led a team to survey the progress made in the paired assistance program in Dafang county, Bijie city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Nov 30.

The team visited the China-Guizhou Gastrodia Trading Center and a collaborative hospital of the West China Hospital of Sichuan University in Dafang.

At a seminar held during the survey, He said that it should be understood that the paired assistance program is an important political task entrusted to non-Communist parties by the Communist Party of China to help solve social conflicts and provide platforms for public welfare activities.

He called on CPWDP committees at the central, provincial and sub-provincial levels to deepen local paired assistance work, highlighting the revitalization of industries, talent cultivation, cultural undertakings and ecological conservation.

He also urged the CPWDP to leverage its advantages to enhance the development of brands with local features and build demonstration projects that showcase the country's new development philosophy.
