The first Forum on Natural Resources and Ecological Civilization was held in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on Dec 4, focusing on promoting Chinese modernization featuring harmony between humanity and nature.
Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, attended the event.
In her address at the event, Shen said that China's ecological civilization construction is still at a critical stage facing multiple pressures and heavy burdens. She noted that it’s important to implement the basic national policies of resource conservation and environmental protection, as well as practice the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets".
Shen called for continued efforts to uphold the policy that prioritizes conservation, protection, and natural restoration, and coordinate the role of natural resources in balancing high-quality development and high-level protection. She also pushed for the formation of a spatial pattern, an industrial structure, a production mode, and a lifestyle that are conducive to resource conservation and environmental protection, contributing more to Chinese modernization featuring the harmonious co-existence between human and nature.
She called on the CPPCC committees at all levels to deeply engage in investigations and research, consultation, and democratic supervision focusing on ecological civilization construction, and widely pool wisdom and gather consensus to accelerate modernization featuring harmony between human and nature and the building of a Beautiful China.
