CPPCC holds seminar on whole-process people's democracy

The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held a theoretical seminar in Beijing on Nov 28, with the discussions focusing on leveraging the important role of the CPPCC in promoting whole-process people's democracy. More than 150 experts and scholars attended the event.

In his speech, Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, noted the importance of adhering to the nature and role of the CPPCC, leveraging the advantages of its system, and acting on the concept and requirements of whole-process people's democracy throughout the entire process and in all aspects of the performance of the CPPCC's duties, so as to pool wisdom and build consensus and strengthen the development of the Party and the nation's undertakings.

Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the meeting. Wang, also president of the CPPCC Theory Research Association, called for more measures to further strengthen research on major theoretical and practical issues of the CPPCC in the new era, and to promote the theoretical research to a new level.
