CPPCC holds biweekly consultation meeting on promoting steady and healthy development of real estate market

The 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its 13th biweekly consultation meeting in Beijing on Nov 24, with the theme focusing on enhancing the steady and healthy development of the real estate sector.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the meeting.

The participating CPPCC members and experts made comments and put forward suggestions on the establishment of new development models, the implementation of long-term management mechanisms and financial backing to ensure the steady and healthy development of the real estate industry. They also called for further measures to meet the needs of new residents for housing, accelerate the building of a housing system that promotes both renting and purchasing of apartments, and boost the construction of affordable housing.

Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, as well as vice-chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee Hu Chunhua, Wang Yong, Leung Chun-ying, Gao Yunlong, Mu Hong, Wang Dongfeng and Qin Boyong attended the meeting.

Officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development reported the current situation of the housing market and conducted consultations and discussions with the CPPCC members and officials from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Financial Regulatory Administration.
