The Central Committee of China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) held a symposium on basic education reform at the Beijing Academy in Beijing on Nov 21, with the theme of promoting the high-quality development of the senior high school education sector. Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, attended and addressed the meeting.
Zhu, also executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, said that the symposium, where participants exchanged ideas on diversified development directions and goals of senior high schools and related policies, and offered suggestions regarding the digital transformation of senior high school education, will help promote the high-quality development of China in this regard. The CAPD will strive to propose more targeted suggestions based on data analysis and in-depth investigations and research, and make the symposium a more effective platform in promoting the country's basic education reform.
Launched in 2006 as an annual event, the CAPD symposium on basic education reform changed to a biannual one in 2018, focusing on compulsory education and senior high school education, respectively.
