The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee conducted a survey on a proposal about promoting the innovative development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Beijing on Nov 15. It is one of the key proposals designated by the CPPCC National Committee for handling and supervision this year. 

The supervision team, led by Xian Hui, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, visited Guang'anmen Hospital and the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica under the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, to gain a detailed understanding of the development of TCM specialties, clinical diagnosis and treatment, and breakthroughs in scientific and technological research. 

At a symposium held during the survey, CPPCC members called for further efforts to make new progress in technological innovation and to accelerate the industrialization and modernization of TCM. They also underscored the importance of cultivating innovative professionals and expanding TCM-related international cooperation in such fields as medical treatment, education, and culture, so as to contribute wisdom and strength to the building of a global community of health for all.
