The fifth session of the fifth China Economic and Social Council (CESC) was held in Beijing on Nov 9. Zhang Qingli, vice-chairman of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and chairman of the CESC, attended and addressed the meeting. 

Zhang stressed that the CESC should continue to focus its work on promoting the Chinese path to modernization, combining research on major strategic issues with specific problems, and putting forward targeted and feasible suggestions. 

Zhang called for advancing the CESC's public diplomacy work, establishing platforms for international exchanges, and sharing good stories about China with the international community, so as to better serve the overall diplomacy of the country. 

The meeting reviewed the work report of the CESC executive council, and voted to approve relevant personnel matters.
