The 17th Heluo Culture Seminar was held in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan province, from Nov 7 to 8, attracting around 200 researchers and representatives from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong and Macao.
Xian Hui, vice-chairwoman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, attended and addressed the opening session.
Xian called on the participants to fully explore the contemporary value of Heluo culture, a source of Chinese culture, delve deeper into cross-Strait historical and cultural origins to help forge a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, promote exchanges and integration between compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and provide strong spiritual strength for advancing national rejuvenation.
The participants conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the theme of "Heluo civilization and Hakka culture" and reached broad consensus on promoting research on Heluo culture in the new era, and enhancing the cultural identity and confidence of the Chinese people.
The seminar was co-hosted by the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the CPPCC National Committee, the CPPCC Sichuan and Henan provincial committees and the Chinese Culture Research Institute.
