The provincial committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) of the regions along the Yangtze River Economic Belt held their fourth consultative seminar in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province, from Nov 3 to 4, during which they focused on promoting the ecological protection of the Yangtze River and high-quality development of the economic belt. Mu Hong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended and addressed the meeting.
Noting that promoting the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is a major national strategy, Mu urged CPPCC members to have an comprehensive understanding of the significant achievements made in the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and to accurately grasp its new development features as it enters a new stage.
Efforts are needed to align thinking and actions with major decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee on the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Mu said. It is needed to stick to the principle of the joint protection and green governance of the Yangtze River, instead of excessive and large-scale development, and to work together with local authorities to advance the ecological environmental protection and high-quality development of the Yangtze River basin, so as to better support and serve the Chinese path to modernization, he noted.
