The Standing Committee of the 16th Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, one of the non-Communist political parties in China, held its fourth plenary meeting in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province, on Nov 3, with the theme highlighting the importance of the work related to overseas Chinese affairs in promoting international exchanges and enhancing national rejuvenation in the new era.
Jiang Zuojun, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and chairman of the China Zhi Gong Party Central Committee, attended and addressed the meeting.
Jiang said that since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee has proposed a series of new concepts, ideas, and strategies, underlining the importance of doing a good job in advancing the work of overseas Chinese affairs under the current climate.
He noted that the party has adapted to the new situation with new ideas to accelerate capacity building, pool the strength and wisdom of overseas Chinese nationals, and has played a positive role in promoting the peaceful reunification of the motherland, facilitating the implementation of national strategies, promoting fine Chinese culture, and enhancing international exchanges.
He called for greater endeavors to create a new situation for the work of overseas Chinese affairs, striving to form joint strong forces that are committed to national rejuvenation. He also stressed the importance of maintaining close contact with overseas Chinese nationals, safeguarding their rights and interests, and developing public diplomacy to serve national diplomacy.
