China Soong Ching Ling Foundation holds 6th standing council session

The Standing Council of the eighth Council of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation held its sixth session in Beijing on Oct 27. 

Li Bin, vice-chairwoman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairwoman of the foundation, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. 

Li said that the foundation must adhere to the goal of promoting people-to-people friendship, cooperation and communication, and continue to work as an important and unique platform in expanding people-to-people diplomacy, enhancing friendship with people of various countries and serving the major interests of the country. 

Li called for further steps to develop more channels and activities centered around culture, history and the Chinese nation, to enhance understanding between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. 

She called for more efforts from the foundation to assist in the implementation of the country’s three-year action plan to foster the growth and development of the young and minors, and to enhance the social profile of children-related awards sponsored by the foundation. 

She also encouraged efforts to pool social resources and forces to support public welfare and charity undertakings that help promote education, medical treatment, and cultural assistance.
