CPPCC delegation visits EU headquarters, Norway and Austria

Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a CPPCC delegation to visit the European Union (EU) headquarters, Norway and Austria from Oct 18 to 27, at the invitation of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), the Norwegian Parliament, and the Austrian National Assembly. 

During the visit, Wang met and held talks respectively with President of the EESC Oliver Ropke, members of the Norwegian Parliament, State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andreas Kravik, Second Speaker of the Austrian National Assembly Doris Bures, the vice-president of the Austrian Federal Council, and members of the environmental protection and digitalization committees under the Austrian National Assembly, as well as Governor of Salzburg Wilfried Haslauer. 

The CPPCC delegation also visited the Eurasia Center, the Norwegian Institute for Water Research, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. 

Wang spoke highly of the bilateral relations between China and Europe, Norway, and Austria. He introduced China's whole-process people's democracy, the people's political consultative conference system, the philosophy of building a community with a shared future for mankind, and the joint building of the Belt and Road. 

He also enlightened his counterparts on the Chinese path to modernization and China's achievements in innovative endeavors, green and low-carbon energy development, environmental protection, climate change response and water resource governance, and compared notes with foreign parties on promoting exchanges and cooperation in relevant fields. 

Participating officials from the EU, Norway, and Austria echoed the comments made by the Chinese delegation on bilateral relations. They noted that the exchanges with the delegation had deepened their understanding of China's political system. They said they were impressed with China's achievements in economic and social development, and are willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China to promote the continuous development of bilateral relations.
